From thinking I had lost my chances of learning Game Development to completing all 9 courses. I feel great.
Level One is almost ending and I am excited and nervous at the same time. Nervous because we have to pitch a game idea and I have not decided what I want to do. One thing I am sure of is I want to tell a good story.
The first time I installed Unity, I was intimidated by the UI (user interface). Everything looked complicated and I downloaded a starter game that left me confused. My laptop froze and I deleted Unity – bye-bye game development.
This happened about 4 – 5 years ago … (could be longer). Weeks ago, I got an email about a Unity Course Update (on Udemy) – and I’m like “when did I buy a course”? Turns out I did in 2017. Never watched it!
But in 2021, the story is different. I have come a long way and I couldn’t be more proud of myself. One thing I have learned is to take things easy and understand being a beginner is okay. Do not make things complicated. With time you will learn and improve.
Okay back to Level One. It’s been amazing. The guest and Google partner series have opened my eyes to the game business. I’ve learned about Monetization, Measuring game KPI (key performance indicators), Scaling your game, Using Firebase, and Google cloud.
The next step for me is to build something without leaning on the tutorials. My plan is to build small games with different character controls and gameplay. This way, I will not make things complicated. For example, I could build a game where the character shoots – that’s all.
Keep it simple. One step at a time.
Praying I get to Level two
….. and that is all for today. Until next time 🙂
UPDATE: Saturday 30 October 2021
