Where do I start with this journal entry? I should have done this a loooong time ago but I kept procrastinating. Okay, I got into the Maliyo Game Bootcamp *yay*.
I think I should have told the story first before saying ‘I got in’…
How it started… as usual, I’m minding my business on Twitter and then I see a tweet about Maliyo Games BootCamp. I have always wanted to build mobile games. I am currently learning UI design but if the opportunity to learn game dev comes along, why not grab it, right? I applied right away.
I got picked but we had to write a test. I do not do well with tests or interviews – I go blank under pressure. Let me keep this short, the day for the test arrives, and guess what? I failed!
I prepared for it but I was nervous and 15mins is not enough time for me to gather courage. I was miserable the entire week and when I looked through the questions after the test, I was mad at myself. It was not hard. Fear paralyzed me.
You know when you are capable of something and you fail – it stings! Deep down you know you can do better but you did not.
We had to submit a feedback form and I remember asking for a second chance. I explained I was not good with tests and if given another chance, I would prove myself.
Well…
I got an email.
“You’re invited to take a retest…”
I was elated. Another chance! Thank GOD!
I practiced the whole week ’cause I did not want to mess up again. Explored C# interview and aptitude test questions for beginners.
I took the test again and I passed!
I’m grateful and I feel blessed.
I’ll end it here but the BootCamp has been amazing and I am glad I got in.
